  • Been wanting to visit this place for some time and a friend from overseas visited and we decided to head to the place. There is no reservations just walk in, had to call and check and was told most likely would not have to queue but there is an hour dining limit. Visited on the day the restaurant was partially filled we were able to get a table immediately. Ordered a few dishes and have to say the wait for the first dish was a little longer than expected. The table next to us came later but got their dish first, and we realized they seem to cook in batches so generally the same dish would come out serving a few tables at one go. Ordered 5 dishes. Would say we enjoyed the food. Everything was good, but if I have to say the weakest among the 5 dishes probably had to be the ginger chicken. There wasn't any ginger taste, but there was a surprise when we saw cubes in the dish which we thought was potatoes and it turned out to be the ginger! It was quite soft and the taste was quite mild hence the reason why there wasn't much ginger flavor. Of course for me the star was the sweet and sour pork and the tofu prawn. Even the foreigner commented the dishes had the wokhei and it was good. Our foreign friend loves the beef on the kailan the most as the beef was so juicy and tender. We ate slightly more than an hour and no one chased us away. I believe though its a "rule" they have leeway if the dishes take longer to be served or we still have food on the table. Now to the issue of cash payment only. It caught us by surprise as well we only saw it on a note on the wall. However the auntie mentioned it was their tradition and there is totally no issue with it because there are a few ATM machines just a minute walk away. Very pleasant and nice lady had some small talk with us. Pretty good food, one of the places with good wokhei and definitely need to bring a group to try out more dishes.

  • First time patronise this homely eating house, the lady boss and staff were friendly. The menu is simple and the dishes we ordered were well executed and served piping hot. We had black chicken soup, sweet and sour pork, steamed pork salted fish and stir-fried kailan. All dishes shone but the star dish would be black chicken herbal soup. Very hearty and black chicken was tender. Sweet and sour pork was meaty and ratio of batter to meat was just right. Definitely so much better than most zi char stalls we had. Stir-fried kailan was beyond my expectations because this type of vegetable is usually bitter but this restaurant did justice to the vegetables. Very crisp and wasn't bitter at all. The steamed pork salted fish was cooked to perfection and not overly salty. We will definitely go back to try other dishes! Kudos!

  • Was recommended this place by a friend. Was surprise there is nice eatery at geylang area. Ordered a kailan beef, black chicken soup and tofu prawns. The soup was very tasty, kailan fresh (the beef is a little hard), and tofu prawn very good. Place can be crowded as seats are limited. Note, cash basis only.

  • A shophouse restaurant serving Cantonese cuisine. No reservations allowed, be ready to queue, eat and go kind of place. The streamed fish head was very good value for money. At $31, the flesh was tender and the tau cheo gravy yummy. Minced meat with salted fish would have been perfect with porridge but was still great with rice. The beef in the beef with kai lan was genuinely tender and had "wok hey". Prawns with tofu were big and fresh. Only cash accepted here
